REP, s.r.o. (Ltd.) is an independent Slovak company of experts focusing on identification, elaboration and implementation of integrated environmental and rural development projects at national, regional and municipal level. The company has nearly 10 years experience combined with Dutch know-how as it was created as Slovak-Dutch company.

REP, s.r.o. is a member of a work team which, in co-operation with the Department of Regional Development of Regional Self Government Presov, executes the Economic and Social Development of Presov District Programme. The above mentioned Programme is for NUTS II „east“ and is a base for the Regional Operation Plan.

REP, s.r.o. is a member of an expert group for environment of Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Selected Environmental Projects:

Project management for a 3-year programme to strengthen the institutional aspects of waste management in the municipalities of Presov, Humenne and Poprad. Client: The Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs financed the project.

Waste Ordinance development for municipalities taking into account the new EU-based national law for waste management. Identification of the impacts on the municipal budgets and organisation. Client: A foreign consultancy office.

Pilot project definition and execution for organic waste separation at source based on waste sampling and waste analysis during four seasons. Client: A foreign consultancy office and local municipalities.

Project identification and formulation for the extraction of landfill gas and the use thereon for electricity generation. The project included technical, operational and financial aspects. Client: The Netherlands Ministry of Economic affairs together with a Slovak private company.

Marketing study for a large foreign waste collection company to start operations in Slovakia. Assistance in office setting up in Bratislava. Preparation of contracts with potential clients as well as identification of investment opportunities. Client: A foreign waste collection company.

Investment study for public-private partnership setting up in the field of waste collection and disposal in several municipalities in East Slovakia. Client: A private foreign waste collection and recycling company financed the study.

Development and project coordination with a view to distribution and municipal sewage purification system optimalisation in the Torysa river basin. There are four towns and tenths of municipalities. Project is supported by resources from ISPA and municipalities concerned. Client: East Slovakia Waterworks and Sewage State Company

Implementation of new Slovak Packaging Act, REP as a member of Dutch consulting companies consortium, leading by DHV. Working out of alternatives for implementation of new legislation according EU standards. Client: Ministry of Environment

Evaluation study for constructing of new landfill for communal waste in town of Rimavska Sobota, SouthEast Slovakia. Client: City Hall Rimavska Sobota

Selected “Regional Development” Projects:

There is a specific approach towards the rural development projects in our company. We are present at the very first stage of the project, during the creation of a client – an association. We assist them with the specification of the feasible strategy while achieving the objectives, we assist an association with securing the financial sources for the implementation of stated objectives and if there is a need we also assist with the managing of the implementation of the specific projects for local development.

Management of Tourism development project in recreation zones around Velka Domasa lake. The project is focusing on development of infrastructure and institutional building.. The project is supported by resources from Phare 2001 Ecosoc.

Pre-feasibility study of Slanske Vrchy region. The project is focusing on economic activities development in the region of 26 municipalities in the region of Slanske vrchy mountain. The project is supported by resources from the government of Slovak Republic and the Association.

Tourism development programme in Zamagurie region. The project is focusing on infrastructure development, institutional building and territorial marketing of the border region with Poland. The project is supported by resources from The Ministry of Economy and the Association of local municipalities.

Selected Public Awareness and Environmental Training Projects:

Public awareness campaign for adults and schools in a number of municipalities in East Slovakia. Preparation of teaching materials, organisation of contests, brochures for public distribution, etc. aiming in the strengthening of the environmental awareness.

Training programmes for municipal staff members in East Slovakia in the field of waste management. Organisation of tours abroad to waste collection, recycling and disposal companies and national and municipal authorities. The training included legislative, technical, operational and public awareness aspects.
